Open to persuasion

May 3, 2021

All the friends I met last week found their homes within four days, except Calvin. Because today’s residents were less messy than last week’s, I got a chance to get to know Calvin, and found him extremely sweet. Once I sat down in the cage and began to pet him and talk nonsense to him, he was happy to get the attention.

When I first got there, I thought Hazel had been adopted, because there was no sign of a cat in her cage, and the bed was upside down. Then I found out something important about Hazel.

She wanted to be under that bed! But she also was quite open to persuasion, and loved attention as well as having some curiosity about what I was doing banging around in the other cages.

By the time I was closing up to leave, she was eeling her way further out of her hidey place.

Down on the end were these two girls, who were hiding tightly in their cubes when I arrived and did my cleaning. But when I took the time to sit with them, they also warmed right up. Jada came out to watch me work, so I had an idea she was open to persuasion. That turned out to be an understatement.

Momo was less sure.

But she closely watched her sister’s behavior.

And she took her sister’s advice.

Moral of the story: even the hidey cats are open to persuasion in most cases! Give it a try!
