Mamacat 2004?-2018

May 1, 2018

We had to let our little Mamacat go yesterday.  About a week ago it became clear she was having some kind of problem with her mouth that kept her from being able to eat or drink.  A dental at the local feral cat specialists/heroes did not resolve her issue – we kept her crated in our dining room near a sunny window over the weekend, and I don’t know if it was being in captivity or what, but she didn’t eat or drink, and began pulling the fur off her chest.  She seemed unable to swallow, and most of the fur she pulled off her chest ended up being spat around the inside of the crate.  We don’t know exactly how old she is, but we TNRed her in late 2008, and she had had kittens for at least two years in our neighborhood, so she was probably about 14.  The saddest part was when we brought her outside into the sun and air to put her into the car – her eyes lit up, she knew that was where she wanted to be.  It’s going to be a warm sunny week and she would have loved it.  The back porch is too empty.

I am so sorry; RIP Mamacat. We TNR’d our Mama now called Sweetie in 2009, and she’s beginning to get boney. I love her desperately; will do all I can to keep her healthy, safe, and warm.
