Foster Friday

February 28, 2014

Meet our latest foster.  This is Calista.  She was found wandering the streets in starving condition late last summer although you’d never know it to look at her now, she’s a chubby lady.  She had two fosters and then spent a couple of months in a cage at Petco where our organization shows off cats.  Then it was time for her to have a break so she’s set up shop in my office.

She is very sweet, loves company, and cries sometimes when she hears us walking around in the hallway without stopping to give her some attention.  If I’m in the room she will settle down nearby and just purr.  She doesn’t have much use for other cats, and the first night she was with us, she checked out every corner of the room (which clearly must smell like many other cats) and gave a little growl once in awhile just in case any cat was still lurking.  I feel badly that she’s all alone in there most of the time, but then I remember how much bigger it is than a cage at the store, and worry a little less.

She likes the big blue bed we bought when we had Honey and the peanuts.

If I rub the side of her face just the wrong way, she will turn and grasp my hand with her teeth – so I don’t know if that means something in her teeth is sensitive on the side, or what.  Otherwise, she loves people and I hope we can get her a home really soon.

Calista is beautiful. We are so glad she is with you until she finds her forever home. She sounds like a really wonderful kitty!
