Siblings from different mothers

October 17, 2012

These two adorable little kittens looked like they’d been best friends since before they were born, but in fact they were two singletons who bonded when playing together.  They had the good luck of an observant and perceptive volunteer who noticed and put them together, and they were clearly very happy.

As much as they loved each other, they loved Emmy just as much.  Even when they were three quarters asleep, as soon as she sat down beside them they hopped up and stumbled into her lap.

The girl was a petite mackerel tabby, and the boy had charming white paws.

“Hey look, this is my brother.  I just met him.  Isn’t he great?  He’s mine.”

She had the sweetest spotted belly too.

    VERY sweet!

BTW, the girl is a marbled tabby, sometimes called a true tabby. Mackeral tabbies have stripy sides. I think it’s because the stripes are supposed to look like mackeral bones.

I love the marbled girl’s spotted tummy and am glad they found each other!
